A little-known ‘S’ group stock baffled many dealers on Thursday. Epic Energy saw a sudden spurt in volumes as the stock ended the day at its upper circuit. Around 1.17 lakh shares were traded, which was more than four times its two-week average volume of 27,142 shares. According to dealers, the buzz on the street is that the company is in talks with a US-based entity — Solar Energy Generating Systems (SEGS) — to jointly bid for government orders in the energy conservation arena. Currently government orders account for around 80% of Epic Energy’s business.
It is also believed that the US-based entity is mulling acquiring a minority stake in the company, apart from signing a no-compete agreement with Epic
