Gujarat State Petronet Limited-Cradling the Energy needs of Gujarat

There's $ 50 bn of Natural Gas to be moved from the Andhra Offshore to the interiors-Gujarat State Petronet could get the mandate for moving the gas from the KG6 fields owned by its promoter company Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation. Should that happen, by the year 2008-09, GSPL could emerge as the single largest owner of a gas pipeline network in the country. Is this the reason that FII's are flocking towards the counter?
Gujarat State Petronet is emerging as one of the most exciting plays in the regional gas transportation segment. With almost 1175 kms of gas pipelines, that criss-cross North Gujarat and South Gujarat, under its belt, this corporate has the most interesting Revenue model that encapsulates free pricing and open acess.
More importantly, while about 13 million squared cubic metres of gas is being moved daily on the existing network, the capacity will grow quantum fold in two months from now. To which will get added the gas supplies dedicated entirely to the New Petrochemical Complex being put up by Reliance Petroleum at Jamnagar. Also, Reliance will use the GSPL pipelines to distribute PNG (piped natural gas) and CNG (compressed natural gas) for civilian and automobile usage in Gujarat.
