Expansion of business into newer geographical territories and the roll-out of newer products are some of the reasons why investors are showing a great deal of interest in Navneet Publications on the bourses. According to market sources, Navneet is planning to foray into IT education in a big way.

The company, which recently launched syllabus CDs (audio-visual tutor CDs for classes 1 to 10) for Maharashtra Education Board, is planning to replicate the model with other state education board syllabi as well, sources said.

“We have several expansion plans as far as IT education is concerned. In the publication side, we are exploring opportunities in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. If all goes well, we will launch academic support material (text books, question series and guides) in these states,” said a senior Navneet official.

Shares of Navneet ended 0.2% lower at Rs 105 on the BSE on Friday. In a rather bearish market over the past five trading sessions, the scrip has managed to edge 1.4% higher over last Friday’s close
