Lotus Eye Care Hospital has filed papers with the Securities & Exchange Board of India for an initial public offer.

The hospital needs around Rs 55 crore to finance expansion of existing facilities, establishing new centers, and to meet working capital requirement.

It plans to raise up to Rs 42 crore from the IPO, Rs 9.99 crore via term loan, and remaining Rs 3 crore from internal accruals.

Lotus specialises in super-specialty service related to eye care. The company has a network of four eye care hospitals based at Coimbatore, Salem and Tirupur. Total bed strength of all the centers is 120, excluding eye camp beds.

In 2006-07 (Apr-Mar) Lotus Eye Care reported net profit of Rs 1.28 crore on total income of Rs 7.29 crore.
